Rachel Shockey is a fine-art, visual artist specializing in oil and watercolor painting, with over 19 years of professional experience. Rachel earned an MA in Christian Apologetics with highest honors from the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University (La Mirada, CA) in 2019. Her master’s thesis, The Intersection of Christian Apologetics and the Arts: The Power of the Arts to Convey Truth and Change Lives, explores the ability and impact the arts have in communicating truth. Rachel’s growing exhibition, Āhopian Tō: A Meta-Narrative of the Ultimate Narrative, draws upon her passion for Old English, British literature, and medieval architecture and art. It is a sensory art experience that conveys important moments from her life that have led her to believe and place her hope in Jesus Christ. Rachel graduated with honors from Warner University (2008) with a BA in Contemporary Literary Studies and a minor in Communication. She received the Award of Excellence in her major for “outstanding scholarship, service, and conduct.” In the fall of 2006, Rachel attended the University of Oxford (Oxford, UK) through a study-abroad program and studied English Language and Literature. Her semester abroad at Oxford sparked a passion for Christian apologetics and a desire to use her artistic gifts to convey truth. Rachel’s love of literature plays a large role in her paintings. Hailing from Ohio, Rachel lives in Lebanon, TN with her husband of fifteen years, Benjamin, and their two Havachon dogs. Rachel enjoys spending time with her 19 nieces and nephews. Rachel has sold numerous paintings to clients in the U.S. and internationally for the past fifteen years. She is sought out by many for her ability to bring ideas to life with vivid colors and light and for her ability to capture the likeness and essence of her subjects. Rachel has had her work on display at the Intersect Gallery in St. Louis, MO; the Gilbert Chapel Gallery in St. Petersburg, FL; Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL; and Biola University in La Mirada, CA.
