Becca Dilldine

Biography
Becca has always found solace in creating with her hands, and she fell in love with ceramics when she started college at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) in 2013. Becca graduated from TTU with a BFA in Ceramics and a Minor in Social & Behavioral Science in December of 2017. She currently resides in Cookeville, Tennessee with her husband, Jonathon, and their many fur babies; while working nights as a Testing Technician in the Library at TTU. Professionally, Becca’s artwork has been featured in galleries across the US including: Main Street Arts (NY), Worcester Center for Crafts (MA), Commonwheel Artist’s Co-op (CO), Clay Center of New Orleans (LA), and The Clay Studio (PA) to name a few. Becca’s work has also been featured in Ceramics Monthly’s September Issue “Exposure” (2019), Edwardsville Arts Center’s Issue of "Raise A Toast" (2019), and Companion Gallery’s Issue of "Last Call V" (2020).

Becca and her husband purchased a 12’ x 20’ building last fall and they have transformed it into her very own home studio, Mavoureen Studios. Mavoureen Studios is the product of hard work, determination, and the love for art and creativity. It honors Becca’s grandmother, Minetta Mavoureen Lee. Becca’s studio is a creative space that Becca can create ceramics for exhibitions, craft shows, galleries, shops, and online sales. Mavoureen Studios will also be open to the public for special events throughout the year to purchase Becca’s ceramics. When she’s not creating, Becca enjoys exploring new coffee shops, day trips to Nashville, antiquing, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones, her cats and her bunnies.

Artist Statement
I choose to create utilitarian vessels for everyday use. My forms are thrown on the potter’s wheel and then altered and pinched to leave my own touch, documenting my relationship to each vessel. I paint quick, expressive imagery, inspired by my perception of different environments I've encountered in my life. I carve through my imagery to reveal my terracotta clay body beneath, providing contrast in each piece. I aspire to create pottery that the user will find their own connection to and be reminded of their personal experiences throughout life among nature. My hope is that the functionality of my vessels will become a part of the user’s own daily rituals, and bring a smile to their face - reminding them of a memory or something close to their heart each time they use one of my pieces.
